Website Terms of Use
About this page
These terms explain the rules for using smarterboxdiy.co.uk and following our free guides. Please read them before you use the site. By using the site, you accept these terms.
1. Who we are
SmarterBoxDIY (smarterboxdiy.co.uk) is run by SmarterBox Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under company number 16160532. You can check our registered details for free on Companies House (opens in a new tab).
To contact us, please use our contact page.
2. Our guides are free
Every guide on SmarterBoxDIY is free to read. You don't need an account, and you never need to pay or download software to follow a guide. If anyone asks you to pay for a SmarterBoxDIY guide, please read Is this really SmarterBoxDIY?
3. Following a guide safely
Our guides are general information to help you fix common problems yourself. They are not a replacement for advice about your specific device. When you follow a guide:
Back up first
Some steps, such as resets, can delete your files, photos or settings. Back up anything you can't lose before you start.
Read every warning
If a step carries a warning, read it before you carry it out.
Stop if you're unsure
If your screen doesn't match the guide, or something doesn't feel right, stop and ask a person.
Check your warranty
Opening a device or using unofficial parts may affect your warranty or insurance.
Take care with batteries and power
Never open, pierce or heat a swollen or damaged battery. Unplug devices before cleaning them.
Menus and settings differ between manufacturers, models and software versions, so what you see may not match a guide exactly.
4. How we make our guides
Every guide is written by the SmarterBox team and tested step by step on a real device before it's published, and we update guides when we find something that's out of date. You can read more in our Editorial Policy. If you spot a mistake, please tell us.
5. Our responsibility to you
We take care to make our guides accurate and safe, but we can't promise that every guide will work for every device, or that the site will always be available or free from errors.
We aren't responsible for loss or damage that happens because you didn't follow a warning in a guide, didn't back up your data, or used a guide for a device or purpose it wasn't written for. We aren't responsible for losses we couldn't have expected, or for business losses: the site is for personal use.
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility where it would be unlawful to do so. That includes responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, and for your legal rights as a consumer.
6. Brand names and other websites
Brand names, product names and logos on this site belong to their owners. We use them only to say which devices a guide is about. SmarterBox Limited isn't affiliated with, or endorsed by, those companies unless we say so.
Some guides link to other websites, such as a manufacturer's support page. We don't control those websites and aren't responsible for their content.
7. Using our content
The guides, text, images and videos on this site belong to SmarterBox Limited, or are used with permission. You're welcome to read, print and share links to them for personal use. Please don't copy them onto another website or use them commercially without our written permission.
8. Using the site fairly
Please don't misuse the site: for example, by trying to break into it, adding harmful code, copying it with automated tools, or pretending to be SmarterBox. If you use the site to pretend to be us, we may report it.
9. Your personal information
How we use any personal information you give us, such as when you use our contact form, is explained in our Privacy Policy. Our Cookie Policy explains the cookies the site uses.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time, for example when we add new features to the site. The date of the latest version is shown below. Please check this page when you use the site.
11. Which laws apply
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring legal proceedings in your local courts.
These terms were last updated on 19 October 2026.
If anything on this page is unclear, please contact SmarterBox Limited, or read our FAQs.
